New Cellar!
The New Cellar is stocked with some of the most coveted names in American wine this week, and they won't last long. The 2021 Screaming Eagle leads the charge, that famously elusive Oakville Cab (roughly 500 cases produced annually) showing the brooding concentration and graphite-laced minerality that defines this vintage. Three vintages of Continuum (2015, 2018, and 2019) represent Tim and Marcia Mondavi's Pritchard Hill project at its finest, Bordeaux-style blends grown on iron-rich hillside soils above the valley floor. Dominus spans multiple vintages here, including the 2016, half bottles of the 2019, 2020, and 2021, and the Napanook 2019, Christian Moueix's organically farmed Napanook estate bringing French precision and Californian depth in equal measure. And the 2021 Kistler Pinot Noir Russian River Valley rounds it out beautifully, cool-climate fruit from fog-influenced sites along the Gravenstein Ridge, handled with a light touch and showing bright red fruit, smoked earth, and silky precision.
