What is First Bottle?
First Bottle is the brainchild of a group of Napa Valley entrepreneurs and longtime experts in various arenas in the global wine business. First Bottle is a “sister-site” to the much-loved and wildly popular one-wine-per-day site we started in 2011 called Last Bottle. We discovered that people who loved our picks at Last Bottle needed a place to buy more of their favorites and browse other similar wines as they voyage into the ambrosial world of vinous deliciousness. So we built FIRST BOTTLE. It’s the same buying team who buys for Last Bottle, same ridiculously high standards on quality and price, same warehouse and crack shipping team, same FREE SHIPPING on all orders of 6+ bottles, just more to check out! Plus a few special things we particularly love that we think you will, too.

Can I send my order as a gift?
Of course! Who doesn't like wine as a gift? Just enter a message in the gift message section at checkout, and we'll send it along, making sure not to include an invoice.
Can I buy a gift certificate?
Absolutely — We sell them right here. If you're looking for a specific amount, just email us at help@firstbottlewines.com and we will get you set up.
What is the Sommelier Squad?
The Somm Squad is our way of celebrating you! Earn points by referring friends, following us on social media, letting us know your birthday, and hitting purchase milestones. Cash those points in during checkout for a lil' sumthin' off your order.
Points expire one year after you've earned them, so be sure to apply them at check-out!

How can I redeem my points for $$$?
Somm Squad points are tallied up in your account here. Scroll down to "Ways to Redeem" and click the box "Order discount" then "Redeem".
Please note that if you redeem all your points into a single discount code, but don't utilize the entire value of that code within a single transaction, we will need to manually correct your points-total. If that happens just reach out to us at help@firstbottlewines.com and we will get you sorted out straight-away!
I've purchased many times on First Bottle but my Somm Squad account doesn't show that... what's up with that?
The order counter started ticking when we launched the new website in July of 2025. That means that even if you've already placed a 1st, 5th, or 10th order with us, you're still eligible to earn this award in the future. Our points-system is not retroactive.
What happened to my account credits?
First Bottle has transitioned from using dollar-based account credits to using points through the Somm Squad. Rest assured that your referral credits have already been transformed into points with the same redemption value.
What is your invite policy?
You may invite family and friends as a way to promote the site and earn referral points. However, we ask that you refrain from opening multiple accounts to acquire referral credits.
It is also against our policy to send multiple orders to the same address under different accounts to acquire points. One invite per address and per credit card (we do check!)
If we find a customer has done any of these, all associated orders will be canceled and the accounts will be subject to suspension.
What payment options do I have?
You can pay using Visa, MasterCard, AmEx, Discover, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. We do not accept checks, money orders, or Paypal at this time.
The wine that I want to order is no longer on the website. How do I order it?
Generally, if a wine is not on the website, we are sold out. But, there's always a possibility of a customer cancellation or a re-stock. Feel free to email us at help@firstbottlewines.com in the off chance we can get you some.
Can I use a faster shipping method?
Absolutely! We offer Overnight and 2-Day Air at reduced costs to most states. Wine is heavy and expediting a package tends to be expensive, but we will always quote you the lowest price we can secure.
What is the "Local Pickup Point" delivery method?
Local pick-up decreases CO2 emissions by ~48%, your wines will be protected from extreme heat and cold, and you can secure your package on your own time!
Our check-out automatically finds pick-up locations nearby your shipping address. Choose from the list of option or click "Map it or change" to find alternatives in your state.
Shipping out of state? You'll need to change your shipping address to an out-of-state location in order to see pick-up points in that state.
Your package will be stored securely for 7 days upon its arrival. Please bring your tracking number and an ID; you must be over 21 to accept delivery of wine.
Please note: local pick-up is not available in all states.
What happens if I receive a defective product?
Uh oh! Just email us at help@firstbottlewines.com! First Bottle guarantees the excellent provenance of the wine it sells, and stands behind every bottle. For wine you've had in your possession longer than six months, our support may be limited as we have no way of verifying the conditions it was stored in. We will, however, review this on a case by case basis.
What is the Personal Sommelier Service?
The Personal Sommelier Service is a free, personalized wine recommendation service from our team of real, globe-trotting sommeliers. No algorithms — just expert picks based on your taste, needs, and budget.
We built First Bottle to make incredible wine accessible, educational, and most of all—enjoyable. So if you’ve ever stood in front of your wine rack thinking, “I can't decide!” then let us take the reins. We might even sneak in a back-vintage bottle or introduce you to a family-run producer we met on our last buying trip.

Do I have to pay or join a membership for the the Personal Sommelier Service?
Our Personal Sommelier Service is totally free, ridiculously easy, and tailored to you. Whether you’re just getting into wine, shopping for a gift, or a seasoned cellar-stocker with specific tastes, our team of globe-trotting sommeliers is here to help. No algorithms. No upcharges. Just real wine people, making smart picks based on what you actually like.
