You crushed the Grand Cru reds (there’s a TINY handful left, if you didn’t get yours yet) – and here’s the encore, in white. Same house, same knockout value, but this time we’re pointing you toward the beating heart of white Burgundy – the Côte de Beaune. Quick refresher on Roche de Bellene… this is Nicolas Potel’s "haute couture" négociant project, launched in 2008, and his whole ethos is old-vine fruit from growers farming organically or by lutte raisonnée. 

This translates to serious Chardonnay from equally serious sites, but today, for prices that simply confound the mind for how unserious they are. These wines are pulled from two lovely vintages – three from 2022, a sheer delight of a year full of vivacity and purity, plus one richer and more powerful 2020 in the Meursault Perrières – from three renowned villages. Here’s the full line-up:

• Maison Roche de Bellene Vieilles Vignes Puligny-Montrachet 2022 (WS93) – Puligny delivers Chardonnays of exemplary nerve and tension, with all sorts of citrus and white flowers over a chalky, almost saline core. The old vines give it more depth than a typical village bottling, and Wine Spectator says it has “an alluring viscosity” and “vivid acidity”, also calling it “harmonious and seamless.” 

• Maison Roche de Bellene Perrières Meursault Premier Cru 2020 – If Meursault ever gets promoted to Grand Cru, most Burghounds would bet Perrières goes first. It's the stony, structured, serious side of the village. This is also your one bottle from 2020, a warmer, riper year, so it drinks with incredible weight and presence next to the 2022s. 

• Maison Roche de Bellene Charmes Meursault Premier Cru 2022 – Charmes is the softer, more welcoming side of Meursault, leaning rounder in the mouth, with the classic hazelnut and orchard fruit richness the village is famous for. 

• Maison Roche de Bellene Villages Chassagne-Montrachet 2022 – Chassagne sits happily in between Puligny's cut and Meursault's richness, which makes it a great connector in the flight. Ripe orchard fruit, a little flinty edge, and some polish to make it shine bright even with a village label.
