Brunate is one of La Morra's most historic and celebrated MGA sites, situated on the southern slopes towards Barolo on calcareous, clay-rich soils known as Marls of Saint Agatha, where vines averaging 50 years of age produce wines of explosive complexity and power. Vietti's Brunate is aged approximately 30 months in a combination of large barrels and a small portion of barriques, emerging as one of the most complete and site-driven expressions in the estate's impressive portfolio of single-vineyard Barolos. The 2019 drew outstanding reviews: Vinous awarded 98, James Suckling 98, Wine Advocate 97, Wine Spectator 96, Wine Enthusiast 96, and Jeb Dunnuck 95. The nose is explosive and powerful with plum, citrusy hints, fruity notes, intense tar, and violet that are very typical for Brunate, while the palate is full-bodied and deeply structured with a long, mineral, minty finish. This is a wine for the patient collector, and at the price we have it for, that patience will be very well rewarded. A cellar buy of the highest order.
