Massetino is Ornellaia’s Merlot-dominant estate wine, produced from some of the finest coastal Merlot in Italy and released in very small quantities that disappear quickly every year. The 2023 drew Decanter 96, James Suckling 95, Farr Vintners 95, a strong score from Inside Bordeaux (IB 93), Wine Spectator 92, and 17 points from Jancis Robinson, who described it as showing the vineyard’s classic depth and coastal lift. Fresh, voluptuous, and deeply fruited, with a plush mid-palate and the coastal freshness of Bolgheri giving it an unusual lightness of touch for a wine this concentrated. These are extraordinarily limited and generally sell out immediately on release. Grab them before they’re gone.
