The Tassi Colombaio 2021 is here, with double 95-point scores in tow, and it is every bit as extraordinary as you'd expect. We have fewer than 3 cases available, with free shipping on just one bottle and a major price drop on two or more!

Fabio Tassi could effectively be the unofficial mayor of Montalcino. His wine shop is set inside Montalcino's famed castle fortress, he owns two immensely popular restaurants, and that's not even scratching the surface of his prized and breathtaking winery. His family has kept beehives in the area for generations, crafting world-class honey, and Fabio's grandfather Guido Franci began his wine pursuits as a sharecropper for the legendary Biondi-Santi family in the 1920s. When Fabio took over the family business, he worked tirelessly to expand their land holdings, quickly building a reputation for some of the finest, most expressive Sangiovese ever known.

Then there's the actual winery – a state-of-the-art, organic-certified facility opened in 2019 that's built entirely out of laminated wood and operates on a gravity-fed system across two levels. No aggressive mechanical pumps, a natural perimeter ditch for temperature regulation, and a philosophy of painstaking care at every single step. Thoughtful farming and meticulous winemaking are non-negotiables, and it shows, unmistakably, in every bottle.

Here we have the 2021 Colombaio – a single-vineyard Brunello that earned a hearty double 95 points from both James Suckling AND Jeb Dunnuck. Expect an utterly gorgeous nose of red cherries, wild strawberries, and dried roses, with layers of iron, dried herbs, and a touch of tobacco. On the palate, it's all silky elegance – refined, mineral-driven, and built for the ages, with tannins so polished they practically float across the tongue. This is a Brunello that delivers now while carrying extraordinary ageability.

We have fewer than 3 cases on hand, and at just $150 each when you grab two, with free shipping – this is a chance to own a genuinely special Brunello from one of Montalcino's most celebrated names. When it's gone, it's gone. Don't sit on this one – go!

FOOD PAIRINGS: I love an unusual meatball situation, and this wine would splendidly complement some harissa-spiced lamb meatballs with a dilly, mint yogurt sauce and roasted peppers.

About The Producer

The Tassi company was founded by Guido Franci who worked as a sharecropper for the Biondi Santi family since he was a young boy in the early 1900s. Guido's other passion was beekeeping and making honey on the property as well. The family ran winery is now in the hands of Fabio Tassi, Guido's grandson, who continues the tradition of winemaking and the selling of honey as well as quality products of the territory. The facility is state of the art with a gravity flow system that limits the use of pumps in a winery. The estate has a state-of-the-art facility, combined with an exceptional hospitality experience and making fabulous wines under the beautiful Tuscany sun.
