Relentless is Shafer's tribute to winemaker Elias Fernandez and his tireless pursuit of quality, a Syrah-driven wine that has become one of Napa Valley's most compelling expressions of the variety. The 2022 is a blend of 90% Syrah and 10% Petite Sirah, co-fermented, and offers an exquisite balance of concentration with elegance, with layers of juicy black plum, wild berry compote, and black licorice showing complexity and tension alongside crushed stone, garrigue, and sage, with ideal ripeness and racy acidity adding lift to its core. Powerful and compact on the nose with blackberry liqueur, dark plums, smoked meats, peppercorn, and graphite, it is full-bodied and deeply structured, finishing long and powerful with serious aging potential over the next 20 to 30 years.
