Now for under $100, with only 12 bottles left in stock, the 100-POINT Seña Proprietary Blend 2018 is a remarkable shot to own one of Chile’s most exquisite reds. Seña was created in 1995 by Errázuriz president Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi, and its iconic status was sealed at the 2004 Berlin blind tasting, where Chilean wines placed at the top against First Growth Bordeaux and Super Tuscans. The vineyard sits on north-east facing hillsides in Aconcagua, only 40 kilometers from the Pacific, and the wine is made according to biodynamic principles.

The 2018 vintage blends 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Malbec, 15% Carmenère, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot, and was aged 22 months in new barrels. It followed the 2017 drought and the cooler 2016 season with a balanced year of long, slow ripening, and critics are flat-out floored. James Suckling awarded it 100 points and Wine Advocate and Jeb Dunnuck 98, with Suckling calling it the finest vintage of Seña to date. You’ll find notes of cassis and darker berry fruits with notes of violets, truffle, damp earth, tobacco, and candied orange peel, with a seamless palate and nearly flawless tannins. We won’t have enough to go around, so make at least one of these rarities yours at an unforgettable price!

About The Producer

Seña began as a partnership between Chilean vintner Eduardo Chadwick and Napa Valley’s Robert Mondavi, who searched for four years before settling on the hillsides of Ocoa in the Aconcagua Valley. They chose a name meaning “sign” to tell the world that Chile could make a truly great wine, and the debut 1995 vintage was released in 1997. Today the vineyard is farmed biodynamically under winemaker Francisco “Pancho” Baettig, and Carmenère gives the wine its distinctly Chilean soul.
