La Chapelle is assembled through a barrel-by-barrel selection from the estate's holdings across Hermitage's premier sites, principally Le Méal and Les Bessards, with approximately 20% new oak and 15 months of aging before bottling. The 2010 vintage in the Northern Rhône produced wines of exceptional clarity and precision, leaner and more structured than the opulent 2009 and all the more compelling for it. Robert Parker awarded it 97+ points, describing it as massively concentrated and dense, with sensational minerality alongside dark fruits, bacon, black olive, beef blood, and graphite, building in the glass and showing more mid-palate density with time. Parker's note from barrel was equally enthusiastic, citing wonderfully crisp acids, a well-focused and delineated style, and abundant blackberry, cassis, camphor, licorice, subtle smoke, and crushed rock. Now 15 years from harvest, this is a wine to either decant generously or continue cellaring for another decade, with a drinking window that extends comfortably through 2045 and beyond.
