The 2022 vintage is being celebrated across Burgundy as one of the finest in years, a warm, dry summer that somehow preserved the freshness and floral precision that great Chambolle demands. Wine Spectator called it the best Pinot Noir the region had seen since 2017, and at Roche de Bellene, Potel’s sourcing from organically farmed old-vine parcels in the village gives this bottling the aromatic intensity and mineral backbone to back that enthusiasm up. Chambolle sits between the power of Gevrey and the supple generosity of Vosne, and the 2022 finds that equilibrium beautifully: perfumed and lifted on the nose with fresh rose, red cherry, and raspberry, then textured and focused on the palate with fine-grained tannins and a long, savory finish. A gorgeous drinking window starting now and stretching through the early 2030s. Don’t sleep on it.
