Nicolas Potel, who grew up at his father Gérard’s celebrated Domaine de la Pousse d’Or in Volnay and spent his career building one of Burgundy’s most respected ranges before passing away in June 2025, called Chambolle-Musigny the most feminine village on the Côte de Nuits, and his négociant bottling from the 2021 vintage captures exactly that quality. The brutal April frosts of 2021 slashed yields across the Côte d’Or, but the later-budding vines of Chambolle largely escaped the worst of it, and the season finished with the kind of cool, gradual ripening that produces wines of crystalline purity and aromatic lift. Expect the classic Chambolle signature here: violets, crushed red cherry, wild strawberry, and a silky mid-palate that glides rather than grips, all framed by the chalky, limestone-driven freshness that makes this village one of the most swooned-over addresses in all of Burgundy. Drink now or cellar through 2030. Grab yours before this library bottle disappears.

About The Producer

Maison Roche de Bellene was founded in 2005 by Nicolas Potel, a renowned Burgundian winemaker with deep family roots in the region. After establishing his reputation through Domaine de Rochegrès and his own négociant business, Potel launched Roche de Bellene as a high-quality, terroir-driven négociant house. Focused on sourcing fruit from old-vine, sustainably farmed vineyards across Burgundy, the maison offers a diverse range of wines, from regional Bourgogne to prestigious Grand Cru bottlings. The philosophy is centered on minimal intervention winemaking, allowing each terroir’s expression to shine through with purity and elegance. Today, Maison Roche de Bellene continues to be a respected name in Burgundy, known for its meticulous sourcing, consistent quality, and commitment to sustainable viticulture, offering both accessible and collectible wines that reflect the essence of the region.
