Kochana in Polish means “dearest,” and this wine pays tribute to those dearly beloved folks and the trailblazers who came before us. For 60% off on three-plus bottles – this stunning Sonoma Coast Pinot is sure to become one of your dearest bottlings! And a beautiful one to display, at that!

The inspiration behind Kochana is to commemorate family members who came before Anie Peszynski-Jones, paying homage to those who have paved the way for the future and sacrificed so much for her, her siblings, and her cousins. Anie is the founder and winemaker of Kochana, a word that means “dearest” in her family’s native Poland. Although this is a newer producer, Anie’s resume sparkles like the sunshine on the waves of the Sonoma Coast, where these grapes originate.

Trained under the watchful eye of one of the world’s greatest winemakers, Thomas Rivers Browne, Anie has honed her Pinot-focused craft in Napa, Sonoma, and New Zealand – bringing a global wealth of knowledge and technique not often found in such a micro-production offering. Like her mentor, Pinot Noir is her great love, and the incredible Goldridge loam soil and proximity to the Pacific Ocean of Mil Vistas Vineyard have proven it a fantastic site for growing the grape. The vineyard sits just outside Occidental, experiencing thick morning fog and a slow ripening season amongst its rolling hills.

With an almost Burgundian style, the organically farmed French Pinot Noir clones of Dijon 115 and Pommard 5, and the Swiss clone 23, come together to orchestrate forest floor and earthy undertones, with a bright core of red berry fruits. In the mouth, raspberries, pomegranate seeds, and strawberries overflow, along with dried herbs and spiced plum chutney to add overall complexity and resounding depth. The tannins are soft and the acidity crisp – undoubtedly cool-climate, but never thin or weedy. The joy that this wine brings is pure – and completely worthy at the full retail of $50. But here at First Bottle, you can get it for over 60% off when you order just three bottles! So go ahead and fall in love with Anie’s rendition of this delicious Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir!

PAIRING IDEAS: Go for a fancy grilled cheese – some caramelized onions, freshly shredded gouda, and roasted mushrooms piled onto fresh slices of sourdough, slowly toasted in rosemary butter in a cast iron skillet. Oh, man, you’re going to ascend straight to tranquility with this bright and zippy Pinot.

About The Producer

Kochana Wines is the personal project of winemaker Anie Peszynski-Jones, who sources fruit from select coastal vineyards along California’s Sonoma Coast and crafts small-lot wines that reflect both vineyard identity and a thoughtful, artisanal approach. The Mil Vistas Vineyard, planted in 1992 on Goldridge loam just outside Occidental, provides ideal conditions — foggy maritime mornings, cool afternoons, and slow ripening — for producing elegant Pinot Noir from classic Dijon and Pommard clones. Under Kochana’s hands, this Pinot emerges nuanced and expressive, showing a sense of place, balanced acidity, and restrained power. The current state of the winery emphasizes precision, minimal intervention, and wines that feel personal — approachable yet quietly refined.
