Founded in 1978, Kistler Vineyards has spent nearly five decades establishing itself as one of California's definitive voices in Burgundian-style Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. For their Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, Kistler farms several small-block vineyards along the Gravenstein Ridge, seeking out isolated pockets of redder soils banded with gravel from the Sebastopol soil series, and collects only free-run juice from the tanks with no pressing, leaving the wine unfined and unfiltered. The 2021 is 100% Pinot Noir from heritage Kistler clones, fermented in open-top fermenters and aged 10 months in barrel, offering a complex bouquet of red currants, smoked earth, ground pepper, and exotic floral and rosehip notes, rich and medium-bodied with a seamless palate.

About The Producer

Kistler Vineyards is a privately owned and operated winery dedicated to the vinification of world class site specific Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. They have earned the status of one of the very best producers of Burgundian varietals in California. Kistler Vineyards was founded in 1978 by Steve Kistler and Mark Bixler. The first vintage in 1979 produced 3,500 cases of wine and since then the winery has slowly grown to the planned production level of about 35,000 cases per year.
