Charmes-Chambertin is considered one of the more “charming” (hence the name) and elegant of the Gevrey Grand Crus, and is known for its opulent, silky, and fragrant style compared to its neighbors. For the lowest price in the country, this 2022 comes from the historic Domaine Hubert Lignier, led today by Hubert’s son Laurent, who follows his father’s traditional methods to maintain the gems that come from the family’s magnificent vineyard holdings and continue expressing the best of their unique appellations.

The domaine’s home is in Morey-Saint-Denis, where they own around 9 hectares mostly within the surrounding villages and follow the principles of “lutte raisonnée” (sensible combat) in the vineyards, meaning they use only organic compost when needed and no herbicides whatsoever. Sustainability and tradition reach from their fields to their cellar – hand-picking, extended and open-top fermentation, natural yeasts, restrained new oak usage, and extended aging to allow the true personality of the grapes and their unique terroirs to seamlessly develop to their greatest potential.

As such, their 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru presents a stunning interplay of generosity and precision. Aromas of black cherry, wild raspberry, and rose petal are layered with sandalwood, spice, and a subtle earthy undertone. The palate is supple yet structured, with finely grained tannins carrying dark fruit, cocoa, and mineral nuances through a long, composed finish. True to Charmes, it offers early allure, but beneath the charm lies a quiet authority that promises graceful evolution over the coming decades. We have it for well over $200 off suggested retail – AND the lowest price in the country. But our numbers are epically limited (we’re talkin’ a case) so your shot at bringing home one of these collectible beauties is nigh. Don’t miss out!
