Chiara Boschis describes 2019 as a cross between 2016 and 2017, and from the Cannubi, that means a wine of extraordinary purity and precision. She walked Monica Larner of Wine Advocate through the steep, powdery soils of the vineyard that fall, and the resulting wine earned 98 points, one of the finest Cannubi scores the estate has ever achieved. Wine Advocate called it flat-out stunning, with freshly cut flowers, mint, crushed red berry, orange peel, salt, and dried herbs, dazzling from start to finish, with a precision that is unreal. James Suckling awarded 97, describing an etched, three-dimensional quality with sharp fruit flavors, blue flower, and chalky stone. Wine Advocate noted that in Chiara’s portfolio, Via Nuova is the classic Barolo, Mosconi has the power, and Cannubi shows the finesse of Nebbiolo. Farr Vintners scored it 96 and Wine Spectator 94. Red-fruited and elegant, with a sweet perfume of red berries, candied roses, fresh leather, and dusty earth on the nose, and a linear, pristine structure on the palate. Drink 2024 to 2044. These are among the most limited bottles we have. Act now.
