It’s not just a rosé, but Sancerre rosé from one of the most prominent producers in the area, Domaine Vacheron, hand-harvested and made with certified organic and biodynamic practices. The domaine is just a few minutes from the town of Sancerre’s center and is one of the great, pioneering estates from the area. Starting with only 5 hectares in 1968 procured by Jean-Louis Vacheron, today the family’s holdings span 43 hectares of some of the finest sites in the Loire Valley.
This wine comes entirely from the family’s estate vineyards, and while they have long been considered one of the best Sancerre Blanc producers, their underground-famed Pinot Noir rosé is just as astounding, gripping, and intense. Truth be told, this is a rosé of Pinot Noir in a category all its own, and we are beside ourselves anytime we can get our hands on even a few bottles.
With its lively balance of fruit and mineral flavors, this is utterly refreshing and vivacious – an intricate wine with notes of orange blossoms, blood orange, crushed raspberries, wet chalk, and a hint of Maldon sea salt and white pepper.
An all-in-all delight to drink – and worthy of your time, attention, and investment for one of the best rosés of all time.
