Domaine Harmand-Geoffroy is a distinguished family-run estate nestled in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits. Established in the late 19th century, the domaine spans nine hectares of Pinot Noir vineyards, all within the village's boundaries. Its history is marked by a blend of tradition and innovation, with Gérard Harmand, an aeronautical engineer by training, transitioning into viticulture in the early 1980s. His son, Philippe, who began vinifying at the domaine in 2007, has since taken the helm, continuing the family's commitment to quality and terroir expression.

The Harmand-Geoffroy approach to winemaking is deeply rooted in traditional practices. Vineyard management emphasizes organic principles – no herbicides or insecticides are used, and synthetic fungicides are applied only when absolutely necessary. The soils are plowed annually to maintain health, and manual labor is paramount, including hand harvesting and sorting. In the winery, fermentation occurs naturally with a cold maceration period, and the wines are aged in oak barrels, with some new oak depending on the cuvée. Notably, the wines are bottled without filtration, preserving their purity and character.

The team manages over three-fourths of a hectare of the fine Grand Cru of Mazis-Chambertin, which boasts vines aged 40 to 75 years old. Sitting eastern facing on well-drained, marne-enmeshed soil, the grapes produce powerful yet elegant wines that are friendly even in their youth, with structure and nuance to age for many years to come. An ambush of red cherries and raspberries captivates at once, with subtleties of dried violets, rose petals, clove, damp earth, and wild brush coming together for a voluptuous finish that culminates with a kiss of tingly black pepper.
