Owner-winemaker Jesse Giacomelli bottled 100 cases of his 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard, from the site surrounding Beckstoffer headquarters. Hints of star anise, cedar and dry earth accent black cherries on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is rich and plush, with a texture falling somewhere between velvet and silk. Hints of dark chocolate appear on the lingering finish. Sourced from portions of Blocks A and F, it's a convincing argument for this vineyard's heritage status.

From a historic site in Rutherford (which did very well in 2023, by the way), the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard offers ripe black and blue fruits, scorched earth, graphite, and singed leather, with even a hint of peppery herbs emerging from the glass. It's medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated, more structured mouthfeel, good overall balance, and outstanding length. It needs 4-5 years of bottle age to let the tannins settle, but it should be long-lived. Drink 2029-2044.
