Continuum Proprietary Blend Napa Valley 2015

Founded by Tim and Marcia Mondavi on Pritchard Hill following the sale of the Robert Mondavi Winery, Continuum is one of Napa Valley's most serious family-driven estates, producing a single Bordeaux-style red each year from iron-rich hillside soils at elevations between 1,300 and 1,600 feet. A cold snap during flowering in 2015 dramatically reduced the crop by roughly half, and the resulting wine carries the concentration that comes from nature's own green harvest. The blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Cabernet Franc, 17% Petit Verdot, and 6% Merlot is deep garnet-purple and opens with exotic spice, blackberry preserves, crème de cassis, and jasmine tea, with a core of dark currants running beneath. On the palate it is layered and supple, with black cherry and roast espresso notes intertwined with mountain minerals, ripe chocolaty tannins, and a long, expressive finish.
