The 2022 Proprietary Red from this prestigious and storied hillside estate delivers a masterful balance between power and elegance. Inky purple in the glass, it opens with aromas of crushed blackberries, cassis, boysenberry, graphite, violets and wild mountain herbs. With air, darker accents like dark chocolate, espresso and baking spice emerge, hinting at the wine’s depth. On the palate it’s opulent yet sculpted: waves of black plum, macerated blueberry and black cherry unfold against a backdrop of crushed stone and savory, mineral-, herb- and earth-inflected complexity. Silky, tightly knit tannins lend structure, while vibrant acidity keeps the tension alive; the finish lingers with cedar, clove and tobacco notes.
