Bond Cabernet Sauvignon Melbury Napa Valley 2003
Bond Cabernet Sauvignon Melbury Napa Valley 2003

Reviews

97 -

The single vineyard wines represent Bill Harlan’s concept of offering single vineyard\, micro-climate/terroir-based wines from distinctive sectors of Napa Valley. Fairly high in alcohol\, this sumptuous red wine is almost sweet in fudgy\, macaroon\, cherry pie filling and chocolate truffle flavors\, with a candied opulence all the way through. Yet it's dry. The 100% new oak adds to the caramelly\, meringue taste. Elegant and voluptuous\, it's an unabashed beauty\, firmly in the Harlan style. -

Melbury is the most structural and contemplative of Bond’s four single-vineyard Cabs, and the 2003 vintage delivers brooding intensity with precision. Cassis and black cherry are laced with graphite, iron, and dried herb accents, unfolding with brooding complexity. The tannins are firm yet finely knit, promising graceful evolution with time.
