Past vintages of this tremendous Sancerre have been some of our most popular and quickly sold Sancerre of all time, and today we’re back with the enticingly refreshing and zippy 2024 vintage! This is incredibly rare here in the States, and no one is offering it at a better price than ours!

Under $30 for hyper fresh, organic, Sancerre? We’ve got you, First Bottlers. This delectable domaine is on the west side of the Sancerre appellation –  a relatively new producer for the region, with their holdings in Sancerre and nearby Menetou-Salon extending back to just 1991. They own about 25 hectares in Sancerre, plus another 5 in Menetou-Salon, mostly on the region’s revered soils of caillottes, terres blanches, and silex.

Bernard Flueriet manages the estate with his two sons, Mathieu and Benoit. They work diligently on their land and have always pushed for sustainable efforts that are rewarded in the wine’s final complexity. The estate was awarded a certificate for its Organic Agriculture beginning in 2016, with full Demeter (biodynamic) certification following in 2021. They vinify with minimal intervention in order to let the terroir express itself (indigenous yeasts, spontaneous fermentations, limited use of sulfur, etc.).

The wine leads with crunchy and tart citrus notes, highlighted by lemon and white grapefruit, followed by green apple and yellow plum expressions. Loads of river rock and flint amplify the minerality of the wine, and allow for some minty freshness to be revealed on the finish. It’s round and meandering on the finish – with an overt friendliness that makes this all but irresistible to pop and drain with vigor! Get what you can now – Sancerre never seems to last these days, and this price is almost too good to pass on!

PAIRING IDEAS: Seafood is my favorite way to enjoy Sancerre, and a creamy dish of fettuccine and clams with an herb and chili-infused butter, lemon, white wine, and pecorino sauce would seriously make anyone’s life complete.

About The Producer

Since its establishment in 1991, the Domaine has diligently cultivated vineyards across 20 hectares of gently sloping and fallow terrain within the esteemed Sancerre appellation. Additionally, they have meticulously nurtured 3 hectares in Menetou-Salon. This expansive vineyard is strategically distributed across 35 plots, strategically positioned on the three significant Sancerrois terroirs, benefiting from the optimal sun exposure of south and southeast-facing hillsides. The composition of the land is a true testament to the typicity and diversity of the Sancerre region, featuring a well-balanced distribution of soil types. Approximately 10% of the vineyard is comprised of Flint soil, imparting distinctive characteristics. The majority, about 50%, is Caillottes, rich in limestone, contributing to the wine's unique profile. Additionally, 40% of the land boasts the white soil variety, collectively fostering a remarkable blending complexity and elegant subtlety in the wines produced by this esteemed winery.
