Take Napa’s most iconic winemaker, some top artists from the world over, and incredible parcels of fruit... and you’re primed to make a black magic wonder of a wine! That’s exactly what happened when Amuse Bouche was formed in 2002, and now, more than two decades later, we have a tiny, minuscule amount of this jaw-dropping, 96-POINT red blend!

It’s somewhat rare that a Napa red is ready to drink after just a few years, but this 2023 Red Wine is utterly, wonderfully drinkable, even in its youth. A blend of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc from the hills east of Napa comes together for a plush, silken, sophisticated wine with immaculate structure and softly whispering tannins. A serious joy ride, and expressive to the last beat, but what else would we expect from the brilliant Heidi Barrett?

Amuse Bouche bottles are one of a kind, and collected like pieces of art, with this bottling featuring a custom label designed by renowned painter Jennifer Garant. Her art is known around the world and is a reflection of whimsy and charm, greatly influenced by scenes from Paris that capture the good vibes of food, community, and music. She says of the piece on this label: “With this painting, I want to take you to a sweeter time. When we share a glass of wine with people who appreciate it, we stop and smell the roses ... They say it's a bygone era. Don't believe it, it's yours for the taking!” And that very joie de vivre is wholly encapsulated in the bottle.

First, aromas of red cherry, black plum, blackberry, and baking spices slink from the glass and envelop the senses, followed by more of the same on the palate, joined by French roast coffee, bay laurel, freshly turned soil, and a creamy, melted milk chocolate sensation. It’s full-bodied yet equally well balanced and refreshing, with a fine kiss of acidity and savory nuances that sensually complement the bold, dark fruit. A simply tremendous red wine that is as similar to a great Pomerol as you can get in Napa Valley. Be sure to click through and add two to your cart to get it for by far the lowest price ANYWHERE! This is a worthy bottling for collectors of fine wine and art alike!

PAIRING IDEAS: If there was ever a time to rub your steak with ground coffee, this would be it! This recipe makes for the most insanely delicious crust on your New York strip, and it’s pretty unreal with this wine.

About The Producer

Amuse Bouche was founded in 2002 as a collaboration between legendary Napa Valley winemaker Heidi Barrett and vintner John Schwartz, born from a shared ambition to create a California interpretation of Pomerol’s great Merlot-based wines. Drawing on Barrett’s immense pedigree—built through iconic projects like Screaming Eagle and Dalla Valle—the estate quickly established itself as a cult-level, limited-production label, centered on a plush yet structured blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc sourced from carefully selected hillside vineyards in the eastern reaches of Rutherford. From the beginning, Amuse Bouche set itself apart not only through its rich, Right Bank–inspired style, but also through its fusion of wine and art, with each vintage featuring original, collectible artwork that reinforces its positioning as both a luxury wine and a cultural object. Today, production remains intentionally small and tightly controlled, with a focus on consistency, elegance, and age-worthiness, while Barrett’s continued involvement ensures the wines maintain their hallmark balance of opulence and refinement—keeping Amuse Bouche firmly within the upper echelon of Napa’s modern cult classics.
