Estate-grown 95-point Chardonnay out of Central Cali’s breezy, fossil-laden Sta. Rita Hills, made in small batches from an uber-talented team... for a tremendously low price on two?!

Alma Rosa happens to be one of the hottest and most collectable names coming out of California’s Central Coast. Supported by rockstar consulting winemaker Tony Biagi, Samra Morris has led the winemaking efforts since 2020. One of five 2025 Wine Enthusiast Wine Star Award nominees and protege of Thomas Rivers Brown, she’s rapidly become one of Santa Barbara County’s most dynamic vintners in her considerably short time there. Originally from Bosnia, Samra studied Food Sciences in college, thinking she would become a brewmaster. But after an internship at a brewery, she wound up hating the smell of beer and later fell in love with the culture and process of making wine. She also fell in love with her future husband, a United States Air Force member stationed in Sarajevo, and after marrying, they landed 30 minutes outside of Napa, where she was able to start pursuing a career in wine.

Sta. Rita Hills is known for its east-west running mountains that funnel the Pacific Ocean influence into the vineyards with morning fog and chilly nights, imparting a stunning acidity into the wines. The nearly 630-acre El Jabali Vineyard was planted here by the legendary Richard Sanford, with 5 different micro-vineyards – totalling 40 acres planted – thriving together as Santa Barbara County’s first Certified Organic vineyard. Eighty-five percent Burgundian varieties, and a smattering of all the best clones, makes this one of the most impressive sites in the Sta. Rita Hills – and the skilled team here is making some of California’s best at the moment.

This 2022 leads with saltwater taffy, orange blossoms, lemon meringue, baked pears, cardamom, tangerine oil, and a charismatic finale of fresh-baked cinnamon rolls straight out of the oven. The uplifting acidity and limestone minerality give it all a vein of freshness that makes it capable of shining brightly for many years yet to come! We cannot believe the bonkers deal we get to offer on two bottles or more... head to the cart to check it out for yourself, though we strongly advise more than two if you love energetic, salty-sea-breeze fresh Chards!

PAIRING IDEAS: Get yourself some crisp calamari fritti with lemon aioli and bask in a most heavenly food and wine pairing.

About The Producer

Founder Richard Sanford knows a thing or two about Central Coast Pinot Noir. One of the pioneers of the region when he co-founded Sanford & Benedict Vineyard in the 1970s, he is responsible for planting many of the “Grand Cru” parcels of Santa Barbara – including other famed sites like La Rinconada and La Encantada Vineyard. After starting Alma Rosa in 2005, he eventually retired in 2014, selling to Bob and Barb Zorich. Richard still lives on the Alma Rosa property, enjoying the retirement deserved of a California wine legend.
