Crisp acidity, bone-dry, a hint of peach and herbs, and an electric, stone-tinged finish that felt both earthy and precise. Paired with our simple herb-roasted chicken, the wine felt like a conversation with a place I’ve never been – and yet we got to visit briefly, quietly, through a glass of wine that spoke of soil, grapevines, and history.

You can take your own trip to the Mosel, too – and this bottle is a perfect ticket (plus way more cost-effective than a real one). Typically $45, now it’s under $25 while supplies last… and trust me, this is one of those bottles you’ll wish you had a few more of, so get plenty.

About The Producer

Selbach-Oster traces its winemaking heritage in Germany’s Mosel Valley back to the 17th century, when the Selbach and Oster families—both long involved in vine growing, coopering, and wine shipping—joined forces. Today, Johannes and Barbara Selbach, together with their children Sebastian and Hannah, oversee 22–24 hectares of steep, slate-rich vineyards in top sites such as Zeltingen-Himmelreich, Wehlen Sonnenuhr, and Graach Domprobst. The estate focuses primarily on Riesling, much of it from ungrafted old vines, and is renowned for its traditional, low-intervention methods—hand-harvesting, spontaneous fermentations, and aging in large oak casks or stainless steel. Selbach-Oster’s wines are celebrated for their purity, minerality, and precision, standing among the Mosel’s finest expressions of terroir and tradition.
