Heiligenstein is one of Austria’s most legendary Riesling sites, and Schloss Gobelsburg is one of its historic custodians, its history going back several centuries. The sandstone-rich slope is famed for producing wines of perfume, spice, and elegant tension, and the 2023 vintage amplifies that freshness beautifully. This is refined, aromatic, and impossibly pure.

About The Producer

Being one of Austria's oldest wineries, Schloss Gobelsburg boasts numerous historical vineyard sites surrounding the castle, each with unique specialties dictated by distinct soil and micro-climatic conditions. Ranging from sun-kissed terraces on Zöbinger Heiligenstein and the Gaisberg mountain to the expansive garden facilities around Gobelsburg castle, diverse conditions challenge the vines. The winery diligently tailors optimal growth conditions for each grape variety, aligning with their respective potential. Schloss Gobelsburg has a longstanding commitment to ecological winegrowing, a practice deeply ingrained in its history. Formerly managed by the monks of the Zwettl Monastery until 1995, the winery embraced organic fertilizers, refrained from herbicide use, and worked to minimize plant protectant applications. In 1996, the esteemed Schloss Gobelsburg Winery gained membership in the renowned Verein der Österreichischen Traditionsweingüter (Association of Austrian Traditional Wineries). Pioneering vineyard location classification in Kamptal and Kremstal, this association highlighted historic vineyards, often yielding exceptional wines with consistent potential, setting them apart from conventional vineyards.
