About The Producer
Ohmine Shuzou came back to life in 2010 after a 50-year pause, nestled in the stunning natural beauty of Mine City, Yamaguchi. The region boasts the Akiyoshi Plateau, a breathtaking national park shaped over 300 million years, and Shuhodo, Asia’s most impressive limestone cave. Takeshi Akiyama, the owner and president, returned to his roots in Yamaguchi after a career as an architect in New York, driven by a mission to revitalize the local rice farming community. Breathing new life into the once-dormant sakagura, Akiyama-san’s vision brought together tradition, innovation, and artistry. Today, with young, passionate brewers at the helm and creative icons Pharrell Williams and Nigo joining as co-owners in 2020, Ohmine is setting an exciting new benchmark for the craft sake industry.
