The Volnay Les Caillerets Premier Cru 2020 is magnificently delicate yet complex – grown on rocky limestone soils (“Les Caillerets” means “pebbles”) producing small, concentrated grapes at an elevation of 275 meters and facing southeast. The resulting wine is altogether ethereal, classic, and almost hedonistically rich, with soft red flowers and bright red cherries, plus this underlying grip of toasted black peppercorns, new leather, and clove. Both wines are pure class through and through – and come from one of the best vintages in recent history for Burgundy!

About The Producer

Maison Roche de Bellene was founded in 2005 by Nicolas Potel, a renowned Burgundian winemaker with deep family roots in the region. After establishing his reputation through Domaine de Rochegrès and his own négociant business, Potel launched Roche de Bellene as a high-quality, terroir-driven négociant house. Focused on sourcing fruit from old-vine, sustainably farmed vineyards across Burgundy, the maison offers a diverse range of wines, from regional Bourgogne to prestigious Grand Cru bottlings. The philosophy is centered on minimal intervention winemaking, allowing each terroir’s expression to shine through with purity and elegance. Today, Maison Roche de Bellene continues to be a respected name in Burgundy, known for its meticulous sourcing, consistent quality, and commitment to sustainable viticulture, offering both accessible and collectible wines that reflect the essence of the region.
