This isn’t a casual weeknight Cab—it’s built for the table, the kind of wine designed to elevate a meal the way only Napa’s best can. Think polished, deeply layered Cabernet with that unmistakable Thomas Rivers Brown signature: richness without excess, structure without weight, and a long, seamless finish that keeps you coming back. It’s the kind of bottle you’d expect to see with a triple-digit price tag on a wine list—but somehow, it’s still sitting at $80 retail.

My notes: Classic Napa through and through, with aromas of blackberry, cassis, cocoa, and a hint of sweet oak spice. The palate is plush yet controlled, layering ripe dark fruit with espresso, graphite, and fine tannins that carry through a long, polished finish. It’s already showing beautifully with a short decant, but has the structure to evolve over the next decade.

About The Producer

KHK Wines is a relatively new but compelling project in Napa Valley, founded in 2021 as a collaboration rooted in decades-long friendships and deep ties to food, wine, and hospitality. The winery is spearheaded by fourth-generation Napan Jim Keller alongside chef Thomas Keller, the Hall family of restaurant fame, and acclaimed winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown, whose résumé brings immediate credibility to the venture. Initially, the wines were produced in very limited quantities and poured primarily through the partners’ restaurants, but recent vintages—sourced from meticulously farmed vineyard sites in Yountville, including fruit tended by the Bettinelli family—mark a quiet expansion into the broader market. Today, KHK remains a small-production, Cabernet-focused label, positioning itself as a modern Napa project that aims to deliver high-quality, classically styled Cabernet Sauvignon with an emphasis on approachability and value relative to the region’s top tier.
