We’ve long had a crush on Hoopes – a stalwart of the Napa community known for their smart preservation of their land, compassionate approach to animals, and, of course, exquisite, handmade, estate-grown wines. They’re everything we love about fervid family producers, and this 92 point Sauvignon Blanc is yet another reason to give them all our praise. Ebullient, dry, and punctuated with yellow and green fruits, it’s a summer showstopper, perfect for all kinds of al fresco meals and hangs!

Hoopes is one of Napa’s tiny family-run wineries that we can’t help but root for. First, they make delectable wines across their portfolio – aided by some absolutely pristine estate vineyards in both Oakville and Yountville, along with some similarly excellent fruit sources in cool Carneros. Second – beginning in 2020, they added the considerable talents of the one and only Aaron Pott as their principal winemaker – a move that led to an immediate and substantial increase in quality. And perhaps most of all – the Hoopes family are just the best kind of neighbors…farming sustainably, allocating extra space on their property for their 30+ rescue animals, and opening up their delectable vegetable gardens to the local community!

With summer in full swing, we’re loving their 92 point Napa Sauvignon Blanc as a go-to on our own tables, the ultimate front porch sipper, and a delectable poolside companion! Grown in the sun-drenched terroir of Yountville, the wine is aged in clay amphorae, adding a chalky, mineral-laced texture and taste that is truly divine. It’s crisp and tropical, yet round and delicate, with notes of pina colada and fresh pineapple, alongside lime and lemon with some chamomile, oregano, thyme, green tea, and some lemon zest. Accents of apricot and pear, along with this savory undertone of pecorino and a whisper of river rock minerality, add complexity and layers that leave you thirsty for more.

This is as full throttle and complex as Napa Sauvignon Blancs come, from a family that’s doing it all right. Take our advice and grab at least 3 bottles to unlock free shipping – and your summer will be set in no time at all!

PAIRING IDEAS: Grill up some salmon and asparagus, drizzled with lemon juice and a smattering of fresh herbs, for the dreamiest summer meal with this crisp Sauvi B!

About The Producer

Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley, Hoopes Family Vineyard is more than just an acclaimed winery; it's a testament to the deep-rooted commitment to authenticity and sustainable winemaking. With a legacy dating back to Spencer Hoopes, who found winemaking success in the region even before Napa's international acclaim, Hoopes Vineyard has evolved into a thriving, innovative hub led by second-generation proprietor, Lindsay Hoopes. Lindsay's diverse experiences, from international law to working in the San Francisco District Attorney's office, have woven a sense of adventure and innovation into the family's wine-producing heritage. Under her stewardship, their Oakville and Yountville vineyards have embraced regenerative agricultural practices, biodiversity initiatives, and created a sanctuary for rescue animals, all while working toward organic and sustainability certifications. With a deep commitment to sustainability, Hoopes Family Vineyard is dedicated to shepherding the land for generations to come, proudly practicing regenerative farming, water recycling, and biodiversity to enhance the vineyard's overall health and ecosystem.
