31% OFF RETAIL!
Your summertime cookouts – whether it’s BBQ, pizza on the grill, steak night, what have you – are practically BEGGING for this brilliant 95-point Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz blend. Wine Advocate has this to say: “A very smart wine here! It is silky, opulent, plush and balanced.” Indeed – and the perfect companion to meals on the patio or conversations under the stars, for a chipper price!
Langhorne Creek was once a lesser-known region of South Australia’s wine country, when compared with heavy hitters such as Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, and more. But winemaker Ben Glaetzer saw a stunning terroir capable of producing some of the best and most rich, hedonistic, alluringly complex red wines around. His partners – industry veterans Scott Collett, Grant Tilbrook, and Nick Keukenmeester – quickly saw the vision, as well, and locked in together to launch Heartland, releasing their first vintage in 2001.
With a keen focus on biodynamic farming applications, the winery plants native fauna throughout their vineyard, along with limiting water usage and utilizing goats to fertilize and weed the soils naturally. Langhorne Creek’s cool climate and old vines, along with its close vicinity to Bremer and Angas Rivers, produce lush and balanced Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes predominantly, though the region only officially received appellation status as an Australian Geographical Indication in 1998.
This relatively young but mighty region is truly impressive – and Heartland’s 95-point, 2018 vintage red blend is yet another indication of the area’s vast potential! A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Shiraz melds to create a bold, aromatic, dreamy red wine with layered notes of blackberry jam, dark chocolate-coated cherries, dried herbs, licorice, black pepper, and a long, mouthwateringly velvety finish. For over 30% off, from a team of Aussie all-stars, this is a deliciously giving red blend that will only get more spectacular with time! Free shipping on 6 or more bottles – and trust me, you’re gonna want at least 6!
PAIRING IDEAS: I think there’s no better choice here than steak – pepper-crusted, cast iron-seared New York strip, with herby roasted golden potatoes and a simple arugula salad on the side.
