Hidden away in a quiet and serene valley in the noble hill of Corton’s shadow lies the Côte de Beaune’s best-kept secret – Domaine Delarche. Winemaker Etienne Delarche took sole responsibility of the estate following his father Pierre’s death in 2007, and in a few short years has made Delarche one of the most sought-after productions in the Côte de Beaune. Red and White Burgundy from Domaine Delarche stands as a modern-day example of what great Burgundy can and should be: memorable, delectable, and supremely approachable.
This Grand Cru White Burgundy from the famed Corton-Charlemagne vineyard comes from 50-plus-year-old vines, with hand-harvested grapes aged in barrel for 14 months. The Delarche family’s parcel of older vines faces west, situated near the top of the slope atop soils of mostly gray marl. The result is a wine brimming with crushed stone minerality, a sprinkling of spice, and myriad lemon and limes characteristics. It’s silky and long with a hushed creaminess, and layered with complexities, as most wines from this appellation are wont to be. Entirely worthy of a spot in your collection and situated to age gracefully for at least another decade or longer! We only have a few cases, so make your move with haste!
