With fewer than 4,000 bottles in production, this first-ever vintage of Castello Romitorio’s “Filo di Seta” Riserva is exceptionally limited – and we have only one case available at our incredible price. The 100% Sangiovese comes entirely from the estate’s celebrated Filo de Seta vineyard, and then a rigorous barrel selection of their top lots takes place before fermenting in cement and aging a minimum of 24 months in oak, followed by bottling and aging another 6 months prior to release.

This wine isn’t a plush, drink-me-now Brunello – but rather a powerful, elegantly lifted rendition that is designed to age wonderfully for up to 20-plus years. It’s bursting with notes of black cherry, plum, dusty herbs, rose, and lavender, with whispering accents of licorice, mushroom, and crushed stone. A minty finish wrapped in chalky tannins accentuates the wine’s bright acidity and serious concentration, making for a bottling of great prestige and poise from a vintage and producer that are equally turning heads in the wine world. With double 98 points and an incredible amount of care woven into its essence, this is a wildly collectible wine at a considerably steep discount.

About The Producer

Castello Romitorio is a new kid on the block by Tuscan standards, going back in its current iteration to just 1984. They have become revered for pushing the boundaries of what Brunello di Montalcino can be in the modern day, and for their perfect marriage of art and agriculture. Their remote parcel in the northwest of Montalcino is surrounded by forests, which provide a cooling influence and surreal elegance to these wines.
