Miss this, and you miss a stunning, terroir-driven Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most respected multigenerational estates. Silky, aromatic, beautifully balanced, and sourced from 45-year-old vines – this is the kind of wine that should easily cost far more than $34! But not today.

Since 1920, Domaine Guy Amiot has been rooted in the heart of Burgundy, founded by Arsène and Flavie Amiot in Chassagne-Montrachet. Over the generations – from Pierre, to Guy, and now Thierry and Fabrice – the Amiot family has preserved a tradition of family-run viticulture, blending familial heritage with novelty.

Their Cuvée Simone comes from a one-hectare parcel planted on deep, clay-limestone soils with full southern exposure, straddling Remigny and the lower slopes of Chassagne near the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Corpeau. Grown on 45-year-old vines, the wine is crafted in a sustainable manner, undergoing fermentation in tank, spontaneous malolactic, and then aging in a mix of older French oak and tank.

On the nose, this brilliant Pinot Noir opens with fragrant aromas of red cherries, raspberries, and a crunchy forest floor covered with moss and freshly fallen leaves. It has a subtle floral lift, while the palate introduces an elegance and bright acidity, with notes of cranberries, strawberries, wild thyme, and earth, accentuated by satiny tannins, mineral undertones, and a clean, lingering finish – all hallmarks of the terroir. With room to age for up to 10 years, this 2021 represents an exceptional value and a thrilling entry point to Red Burgundy at just $34.95 (compare at $60 retail)! You would do well to bring home a few of these, but whatever you do, don’t miss them. We don’t have much, and what we do have surely won’t last long!

PAIRING IDEAS: Try this Pinot with grilled shishito peppers and miso-glazed eggplant for a delightfully umami-driven pairing that elevates both the wine and food.
