When Alberto Giusti reached out about sharing his first-ever wine, I’ll be honest - I was nervous. You know how it goes with friends and family business sometimes. We met after work on a Wednesday, and he came armed with a notebook, ready for real talk. No fluff, no BS. At first glance, I applauded him on the label—a thoughtful package with meaning in every detail. Then I popped the cork, and the rest was history. This is a serious wine, only 65 cases made—a once-in-a-lifetime chance to taste something truly special. This isn’t about “supporting small business” instead of the big guys—it’s like bumping shoulders with Michelangelo in a college art class. Alberto’s in this for the long haul, and I’m here for it.
As an Italian native, it’s no surprise that Alberto tied his family into every detail of the brand. The label carries his family crest, and the name ALAS is an acronym for his immediate family: A for Ashleigh (wife and co-founder), L for Leonardo (son), A for Alberto himself, and S for Stella (daughter). It’s a deeply personal project, and the authenticity shines through in the glass.
Bright and tropical with clean, crisp acidity, it marries Veneto precision with North Coast fruit. Zippy, mineral-driven, and mouthwateringly fresh, it’s as perfect with seafood or summer salads as it is poolside on a hot day. An incredible first chapter for this young, family-driven estate—and a wine I can’t recommend highly enough.
