Coming from one of Napa’s most historic wineries – Mayacamas Vineyards – today’s double 95 point Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon is one for the books! With a buzzing electric verve and brilliant character, this is set apart from even the best Mayacamas Cabs! We have but 10 cases available at our beguiling price – trust us, if you take home any 2020 Napa Cab, let it be this showstopping vision of a wine!

Mayacamas has been around since 1889 and has earned a name for producing some of the most well-structured and balanced wines in Napa Valley. The old stone winery is dug into a dormant volcano crater on Mt. Veeder, changing ownership a few times over and modernizing as the years passed by. Since 2013, the Schottenstein family has been in ownership, continuing a fierce dedication to biodynamic farming, healthy vineyards, advanced technology, and preserved winemaking traditions, all at once. This is an exemplary wine from a historic, deeply pedigreed estate that will no doubt enhance your cellar and thrill anyone who gets a taste once you open it!

One thing’s for sure – Mayacamas will always stand the testament of time in the cellar, and this 2020 is no exception! Old school, new school, school enough for us! In their 94-96 point review, Vinous put it like this: “Overall, this is impeccably done, especially within the context of the year.” Those who know, know...2020 was one of the more challenging vintages in recent years in Napa Valley with insanely high temps and wildfires – though the fruit here was picked well before the Glass Fire made its way through the valley. To deter any smoke taint from the LNU Complex Fires, the fruit was carefully selected and rinsed with shorter maceration time and the press wine kept separate. While many producers had to scrap or severely cut down their harvest for this vintage, Mayacamas pulled out something borderline miraculous here with their attentive and scrupulous winemaking, and the results are astounding.

Dark, deep, complex, and brooding as can be, the wine pours a rich garnet purple with notes of juicy black fruits, purple flowers, menthol, sweet bay, dried Herbes de Provence, and black peppercorn. Structured and powerful, this is simply beautifully done, and you’d never know it came from such a challenging year upon a blind taste test! Just be sure to move quickly, as our limited numbers are certain to fly! This stands as one of Napa’s top collectible Cabernets that you simply can’t miss.

PAIRING IDEAS: No smoke taint on the wine, but it certainly goes amazingly well with a smoked brisket nonetheless! Serve it up on some toasted Texas toast with baked beans and broccoli slaw, and you’re all set for a killer meal.

About The Producer

Founded in 1889, Mayacamas stands as one of the most storied vineyard and winery operations in the history of American wine. Through its more than 125 years of production, Mayacamas has earned its place as a standard-bearer of traditional winemaking, and the source of some of California’s most iconic and longest-lived bottles. Named for mountain range that divide the Napa and Sonoma valleys, the old stone winery was dug into the side of a dormant volcano crater in 1889 and has remained in production ever since. For generations, methods and tools have been passed from owner to owner, and the Mayacamas style has remained remarkably consistent.
