This exquisite Red Burgundy may be shrouded in mystery, but what we do know is that it comes from a trusted industry source and exhibits everything we love about Volnay: silky texture, refined elegance, bright acidity, and graceful balance. For over half off – with free shipping on just three bottles – it’s a nonnegotiable for savvy Burgundy buyers.

This bottle came to us from industry friends and passed our buying team’s scrupulous purchasing requirements in order to bring it to you today. While we don’t know every single detail about its history, there are rumors floating around online that past Joseph Paget vintages are connected to Leflaive, and, well – that’s enough to spark our interest! Then we tried it and understood how the theories could very well make sense.

The only real, concrete evidence of Joseph Paget online is a few wines listed on Wine Searcher. The majority are Premier Cru and Grand Cru Burgundies from prized vineyards and appellations, and this poised Pinot Noir comes from the renowned Volnay region. This high-end portfolio seems to point to a great focus on craftsmanship, sourcing, and quality, and we can’t argue with that!

Volnay in 2023 experienced a very hot summer mitigated by June rain to produce wines with ample concentration, freshness, and bright acidity. This leads with tart cherry that leads into crushed raspberry, pomegranate, rose petals, a dusting of white pepper, and some damp earth on the softly elegant finish. With a little chill on it, this is just so pretty and the perfect summer red to go with wood-fired pizzas or grilled meats. Medium bodied with refined tannins and bright acidity adding a lift… truly, lovely! And we hardly ever get access to Burgundy for under $50, making this an enigma worth diving into head-first.

FOOD PAIRINGS: Grilled pizza is the only way to pizza once warmer weather hits. I like to go with Whole Foods dough, and with this wine, I’m adding mushroom, black olives, and soppressata, and calling it a (very good) day.

About The Producer

Joseph Paget represents the quiet, under-the-radar side of Burgundy, and the domaine focuses on classic varieties like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, delivering wines that prioritize balance, freshness, and honest expression over flash. In today’s Burgundy landscape, where prices continue to climb, producers like Paget remain a source of authentic, terroir-driven wines that consistently punch above their weight.
