Kiss of Kistler!
Founded in 1978 by Steve Kistler and Mark Bixler, Kistler helped redefine California Chardonnay and Pinot Noir through a distinctly Burgundian lens, earning cult status for wines built on precision, restraint, and world-class vineyard sourcing. Today, winemaker Jason Kesner carries that legacy forward with minimal-intervention winemaking and a relentless focus on terroir expression. The two 2024 wines in today’s collection offer a rare chance to experience the Kistler style without the usual triple-digit price tags: the Sonoma Mountain Chardonnay is layered with citrus oil, orchard fruit, and stony minerality from some of Sonoma’s most historic vineyard sites, while the Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir bursts with vivid red berries, spice, floral lift, and coastal freshness. These are not “entry-level” wines in quality, only in price, and from a widely celebrated 2024 Sonoma vintage, they may be some of the best values Kistler releases all year.
