The most historic producer in all of Italy brings us their revered TRIPLE 96 point Guado al Tasso for the best price in the country! We have limited numbers, so don’t hesitate to make this “velvety and richly textured” Super Tuscan the newest star in your cellar! Over $45 in savings makes it all the more impossible to ignore.

The Antinori family has made wine in the picturesque rolling hills of Tuscany for nearly 700 years. Guado al Tasso is in the small but immaculate and renowned Bolgheri DOC, located on the upper coast of Maremma, roughly 100 kilometers from Florence. With over 320 hectares of vineyards positioned in a luscious plain surrounded by undulating hillsides known as the Bolgheri Amphitheatre, the estate benefits from the nearby sea’s constant breezes that mellow out the considerable summer heat.

2022 experienced a long drought and is recorded as the warmest year on record for Tuscany. The harvest showed grapes with ripe fruit character and exceptional concentration, defining 2022 as a spectacular vintage. This wine is a blend of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Cabernet Franc, and 25% Merlot, from vineyards grown upon alluvial soils with clay-sand, clay-loam, and “scheletro” rocky deposit compositions, all contributing to the wine’s complexity and elegance.

All in all, the 2022 Guado al Tasso is pristinely layered and succulently ripe – with the ability to age over the decades, and a decidedly Tuscan flair to the Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant wine. Aromas of blackberries and violets with accents of vanilla, cassis, and cocoa lead things off, followed by flavors of more brambly, dark berries, alongside some worn leather, garrigue, pencil lead, and warming spices, with a penetrating acidic backbone. This is a beautiful wine with saddle-smooth tannins and an everlasting finish, bound to last decades longer in the cellar. All the critics agree, but since we don’t have much, you’ll need to move quickly to secure yours!

PAIRING IDEAS: Yes, yes, I know it’s only early September, but in my house, we’ve fully embraced soup season. Go with a traditional Tuscan Ribollita here – a rustic, Tuscan soup that combines bread, beans, and greens for something fragrant and hearty to fully deliver a comfort meal with style alongside this magnificent red wine.

About The Producer

The Antinori family of Florence, one of the world's oldest and most distinguished wine producers, has lived in Tuscany since the 14th century and celebrated its 635th anniversary as wine makers in 2020. The current company president, Marchese Piero Antinori, believes in the tradition that the primary role of wine is to accompany food and enhance the dining experience. In Florence, the Antinori family has led a "Renaissance" in Italian wine making by combining long traditions, a love of authenticity, and a dynamic, innovative spirit. From the sunniest part of the Tignanello hill comes the Solaia Toscana IGT. Solaia, along with Tignanello, has been defined as "the most influential wines in the history of Italian viticulture." According to Marchesi Antinori, Solaia is an ongoing challenge and a never-ending passion.
