The 2021 Dominus is composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, opaque purple-black in color, and needs some coaxing to reveal its scents of freshly crushed blackcurrants, blackberry preserves, stewed plums, and boysenberries, giving way to violets, licorice, and tar with a touch of cedar in the background. The full-bodied palate is taut with densely laden, muscular black fruits framed by a firm, grainy texture and well-played tension, finishing on a lingering ferrous note. Multiple critics awarded it 100 points, including Jeb Dunnuck and Decanter, and it carries one of the highest phenolic concentrations Dominus has achieved since 2013. These half bottles offer a rare opportunity to follow the wine's evolution across a range of occasions over the coming decades.

About The Producer

In the late 1960s, while attending the University of California at Davis, Christian Moueix fell in love with the Napa Valley and its wines. In 1981, he discovered the historic Napanook Vineyard, a 124-acre site west of Yountville that had been the source of fruit for some of the finest Napa Valley wines of the 1940s and 1950s. In 1982, Moueix entered into a partnership to develop the vineyard, and in 1995, became its sole owner.
