Carlo and Dante Mondavi (sons of Tim Mondavi and grandsons of Robert Mondavi) started RAEN back in 2013 and never looked back, gaining endless accolades and acclaim from wine lovers, connoisseurs, and critics alike. The name (pronounced “rain”) stands for Research in Agriculture and Enology Naturally, and the small team works with dedication to farm esteemed coastal vineyards along the Sonoma coast to craft limited-production, artisanal wines reflective of the distinct terroir. Today we have RAEN’s latest release of 2023 vintage Lady Marjorie Chardonnay – boasting 99 points from James Suckling and expressing the most beautiful and lively characteristics of the Sonoma coast!

The 2023 Lady Marjorie Chardonnay pays respect to the brothers’ grandmother, Marjorie, a determined and hard-working woman, and another major source of inspiration to the men’s own work and lives. Pulled from 5 acres of organic, true coastal vineyards just an arm’s reach from the Pacific Ocean, the grapes are a blend of Wente and 4 clones grown among Josephine and Goldridge soils, pulling in incredible depth and vibrancy. Suckling calls this, “A light-bodied yet oh-so-full-flavored wine...” Citrus, pear, white flowers, chalk, mint, and white pepper… simply put, it’s wildly complex and divine to sip!
