Coming from one of Napa’s most historic wineries – Mayacamas Vineyards – today’s TRIPLE-95 point Mt. Veeder Chardonnay is one for the books! With a steely elegance and subtle roundness, this is truly set apart from all of the best Napa Chardonnays! We have but 10 cases available at our slick price – trust us, you won’t want to leave this one behind!

Mayacamas has been around since 1889 and has earned a name for producing some of the most well-structured and balanced wines in Napa Valley. The old stone winery is dug into a dormant volcano crater on Mt. Veeder, changing ownership a few times over and modernizing as the years passed by. Since 2013, the Schottenstein family has been in ownership, continuing a fierce dedication to biodynamic farming, healthy vineyards, advanced technology, and preserved winemaking traditions, all at once. This is an exemplary wine from a historic, deeply pedigreed estate that will no doubt enhance your cellar and thrill anyone who gets a taste once you open it!

The estate’s Chardonnay grapes grow among five blocks throughout their 475-acre property at elevations ranging from 1,800 to 2,100 feet. The soils vary plot to plot, with some compressed volcanic ash, some fractured volcanic cobbles, some gravelly loam and cobbled clay. The high-elevation sites’ cooler climate really allow the grapes to thicken and thrive, developing an elegance and brightness that isn’t as accessible from the valley floor.

The three rave 95 point reviews say a whole lot – namely, that this is some of the best Napa Chardonnay you’ll ever taste, and consistently stands at the top of the pack. Layered and nuanced notes of apple pie filling, marzipan, white flowers, and salted seashells erupt from the glass in a delightfully bright and aromatic manner. The palate brings in a lovely onslaught of pineapple, white peaches, chamomile, and lemon curd, with soft accents of fresh green herbs, toasted almonds, and a chalky, mineral sensation. Complex and softly crisp, with so much refreshing citrusy minerality – you could easily sip this any day of the week and be better for it! Don’t wait to make this yours – with a meager 10 cases in our grasp, we won’t have it around for long!

PAIRING IDEAS: Mountain-grown Chardonnay and cedar plank-grilled salmon go together like Bonnie and Clyde – the fattiness of the fish and toasty wood flavors play off of the rounded fruit and oaky characters in the wine just perfectly. Do it up with a lemon chive butter for something seriously divine!

About The Producer

Founded in 1889, Mayacamas stands as one of the most storied vineyard and winery operations in the history of American wine. Through its more than 125 years of production, Mayacamas has earned its place as a standard-bearer of traditional winemaking, and the source of some of California’s most iconic and longest-lived bottles. Named for mountain range that divide the Napa and Sonoma valleys, the old stone winery was dug into the side of a dormant volcano crater in 1889 and has remained in production ever since. For generations, methods and tools have been passed from owner to owner, and the Mayacamas style has remained remarkably consistent.
