Domaine François Raveneau is one of the most widely respected and globally adored producers in all of Chablis. These bottles age gracefully, hold tension, and continue to be some of the most exciting white wines in the world. The Domaine was founded in 1948 after François Raveneau combined vineyards he’d purchased on his own with his wife’s family’s parcels. François’s father had owned several parcels but decided to sell them off in the 1950s, as the area was disrupted by both World War II and phylloxera. François still saw the potential of Chablis, however, and took advantage of lowered land prices, buying up several of Chablis’s finest Grand and Premier Cru vineyards.
Over time, their reputation grew to soaring heights, and François’s sons, Bernard and Jean-Marie, took over running the estate in the ‘70s and ‘80s. The limited production wine became world-renowned for its spectacular quality and consistency, with traditional minimal intervention winemaking and natural viticultural practices.
