Collin Cranor brought on Craig Ploof as Director of Winemaking, and together they’ve landed fruit from some mighty patches of earth, including Sugarloaf Mountain, vineyards across Oakville, Rutherford, and Howell Mountain, and today’s superstar: Beckstoffer Georges III.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis Rutherford vineyard is royalty, first planted in 1895 by valley pioneer Thomas Rutherford, then purchased in 1928 by Beaulieu Vineyard founder Georges de Latour. His legendary winemaker, André Tchelistcheff, used its fruit to make BV’s iconic Rutherford Cabernets. Today, the roughly 300-acre site is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and is considered one of the most coveted vineyards in California. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePure, concentrated, and intense, this opens with a bodacious core of black cherry and blueberry wrapped in dusty earth and dried sage. It’s both textured and focused, with a youthful tension and energy that demonstrates its capability of long-term aging.
