Your favorite off-the-radar Chablis is back! This is now our third vintage featuring the delectable Agnes and Didier Dauvissat wines, and this 2022 just might turn out to be the best yet! More noticeable tension than 2021, this has a classic, angular edge that comes around with a bit of air beautifully. We're thrilled to have a rare Premier Cru Beauroy Chablis for under $40 – and you simply can’t get this anywhere else in the entire USA!

Agnès and Didier Dauvissat’s 13-hectare property is based in the village of Beine, just about 10 minutes west of Chablis. They are without question the least famous among the myriad Dauvissat producers, but we love their precision and classic approach to Chablis. In 2022 – a stellar vintage revered for its balance of fine-tuned acidity and ripe fruit opulence – this is a lean, classic, and zippy expression of Beauroy...and a fine effort at that!

The Domaine is currently run by the second generation, Florent Dauvissat. His familial connections got him an opportunity to train in the cellars at the far more famous Vincent Dauvissat, as his father, Didier, is Vincent’s cousin. By Burgundy standards, this now 35-year-old Domaine is still in its infancy, but this latest release will compete with dozens of other 1er Cru Chablis producers – at a fraction of the price!

This family-run estate covers 13 hectares, across the five appellations of Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru Beauroy, Bourgogne Rouge, and Crémant de Bourgogne. Beauroy is a well-exposed, south-facing premier cru on the left bank of the Serein River, which cuts through the center of the appellation. It has rich soil of clay and limestone with lots of Chablis’ prized fossilized oysters. It is a highly underrated premier cru in our professional opinion, but Florent has expressed the site in a complete and authentic way. The wine sees a tiny amount of oak, augmenting a wonderfully smoky, mineral-driven nose that borders on the austere initially but comes to life within a few moments of swirling. In the mouth, flavors of orange peel and lemon verbena take root, with a nice, oily richness, complemented by plenty of earthy spice notes, leading into a long, mineral finish. This is a gorgeously done, simply classic Premier Cru Chablis at a truly unreal price.

PAIRING IDEAS: Oysters! Just kidding (but not really). If bivalves aren’t your jam, use this percolating mouthful of deliciousness to make a New Orleans' classic Trout Amandine shine brighter still.
