Rudy sold the property in 2016, so this is truly one of the last we will ever see. AT THIS PRICE, it is a MUST for big mountain Cab lovers -- truly a no-brainer. There are no reviews of this wine, but like many of the later wines from Rudy, this one is powerful but relatively light on its feet considering the intensity and concentration of the red currant and deep blackberry flavors, backed up by cedar, licorice and the classic tobacco leaf. Surprisingly drinkable, if you decant it vigorously, but definitely a wine to keep for a decade or two!

Founded in 1990 by Rudy and Rita von Strasser, this distinctive diamond-shaped label and eponymous brand has become synonymous with great Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings. From 1990 through 2016, von Strasser Winery was based in Napa Valley’s Diamond Mountain District appellation, an AVA whose creation Rudy von Strasser spearheaded.
