Dutton Estate Pinot Noir Karmen Isabella 2017 - First Bottle

Reviews

93 Tasting Panel -
Sourced from three vineyards in the Russian River Valley – out of the more than 80 that the winery farms that are Sonoma County Sustainably Farmed and Fish-Friendly – they are also all dry farmed. The Karmen Isabella Pinot Noir is aged 11 months in French oak. Cherries in tilled soil, red tea and savory baking spices play a part in the intriguing aromatics. Expansive flavors of cocoa and pomegranate set in a “deliciousness” along with a sumptuous texture. Round in the mouth, notes of chili pepper are subdued but still integrate with cedar, cinnamon and orange peel.

Was $46. Wow! 93 points, Dutton Estate, hot off the press and SINGING. What can we say except...hurry!

Kistler, Patz and Hall, Hartford Court and Chappellet are some of the big-time names that all source fruit from the famed Dutton family. As 6th generation wine and apple growers in the Russian River Valley, the Duttons are the real deal when it comes to Sonoma farming families. Their fruit is highly sought after and their own wines are sold primarily via mailing list and in top restaurants.

While generally focused on site-specific vineyard bottlings for their own wines, the Karmen Isabella is sourced from 3 dry-farmed, sustainably grown sites in the Russian River Valley. The Green Valley Road Vineyard provides weight, color and richness. The Thomas Road Vineyard contributes bright cherry and spice, and the Manzana Vineyard provides earth and minerals. As we noted above, the wine is gorgeous right now -- tiers of cola, cherries, pomegranate, forest floor and sweet citrus fruits...long, savory and satisfying. UNREAL level of quality at our amazing price!
