Trujillo Cabernet Sauvignon Morisoli Reserve 2016

Cabernet Blends  |  US

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

This production is so small it’s a true miracle we got any to sell. But living in the heart of the Napa Valley does have its advantages…

Most people know Mike from his brand Karl Lawrence, but most don’t know he trained under legends like Andre Tchelistcheff, Tony Soter and Jim Allen. He makes classic Napa Valley Cabernet with an “old-school” edge -- not sweet, not over-oaked -- the wines are about structure and balance but with plenty of fruit and flesh. Any one of you who’ve had the marvelous Karl Lawrence or Herb Lamb wines over the years knows what we’re saying! Oh yeah, they age out marvelously too! We have had several bottles of 2001 Karl Lawrence Morisolis that were staggeringly good.

Enter Trujillo - Mike’s eponymous brand after selling Karl Lawrence. These gorgeous wines are sourced from the MOST prime sections of the most coveted Napa vineyards. Morisoli is a legend of Rutherford surrounded by Scarecrow, Greer, Phelps and Inglenook, it is prime time Rutherford Bench magic. What Michael is able to coax out of this vineyard is remarkable, it may have something to do with the tight relationship he has with the family and the fact that he’s been working with this site for 20 years! In a vintage like 2016, these are must-haves!!

If you’d like to be one of the very few to own any of these artisan gems, act quick, our allocation is miniscule!

About the Producer

Michael Trujillo discovered his passion for winemaking in the early 1980s during a spring break from his college studies as an engineer. Michael has had the privilege of working under legends like Andre Tchelistcheff, Tony Soter and Jim Allen, an enviable list to say the least. Michael first went out on his own in the early 2000s launching Karl Lawrence Cellars and later in 2011, his namesake winery Trujillo in St. Helena.
