Cavallotto Barolo Riserva Vignolo 2008 - First Bottle

Reviews

97 Wine Spectator -
A rich, dense version, with power and beefy tannins supporting the cherry, wild herb, eucalyptus and tea notes. This is tight and bursting with latent energy, so give it more time. Shows excellent length and resonance on the finish, which hints at the ultimate potential here. Best from 2018 through 2036. 692 cases made.

This is a WOW wine! 97 points from Wine Spec! Just now starting to come into its own, these massive tannins are still present but absolutely seamless in how they mingle with the concentrated fruit and spices and dance above a beautiful line of acidity. AMAZING!

About the Producer

In 1928, Giacomo Cavallotto acquired the Bricco Boschis property, and in 1946 his grandchildren – the brothers Olivio and Gildo – began to vinify the estate’s entire grape production for sale as their own bottled and labeled wine. Since the end of the 1980’s, Olivio’s children Alfio, Giuseppe and Laura have continued the work of gradual growth and constant quality improvements begun by their father and uncle.
