L'Abbe Dine Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge 2017 (Magnum 1.5L) - First Bottle

Reviews

90 Jeb Dunnuck -
The saturated purple-colored 2017 Ch?teauneuf Du Pape checks in as a blend of 90% with the balance Syrah and Mourv?dre, brought up all in stainless steel. It's a ripe, concentrated effort that has upfront notes of blackberries, currants, ground pepper, and earth. Medium-bodied, supple, nicely textured, and balanced, it drops off on the finish yet is nevertheless a pure, balanced, thoroughly enjoyable red.

Philippe Cambie is a Rhone ROCKSTAR, consulting with Nathalie Reynaud on her new project l'Abbe Dine. With a small swath of prime holdings in CdP and CdR, this project is one you should know about. This is brought up in cement and never sees any oak to preserve the clean lines and pure fruit that these sandy soils bring to the table. The '17 is pure sex appeal with a ton to love, you really cannot go wrong here, especially at this price!

About the Producer

The Reynaud family has been farming in the Southern Rhone valley since the 1880s in the ideally situated Les Berdines lieu dit. According to the local tales Les Berdines got its name from an abbey who loved food and wines - from this story comes the name l'Abbe Dine which lossley translates to the Abbots Dinner. In 2012 Nathalie Reynaud decided she would stop selling grapes to the local coop and so l'Abbe Dine was born. She hired Philippe Cambie to consult and the combo of his expertise and old vines makes for a winning combination.
